Royal Karoo Hunting Safaris – Eastern Cape South Africa

REFINED ADVENTURE, FAIR CHASE HUNTING

Royal Karoo Hunting Safaris offers a refined African hunting experience, set in the rugged mountains of the Eastern Cape where the Great Karoo meets Valley Bushveld. This region is one of the premier destinations for Kudu hunting in South Africa and is also recognized as a world-class location for bow hunting.

With an expansive, malaria-free, 25,000-acre preserve, Royal Karoo provides a perfect setting for fair-chase walk-and-stalk hunting. The lodge features luxurious accommodations, making your stay as comfortable as it is thrilling.

Royal Karoo is deeply committed to sustainable and ethical hunting. Through conservation efforts, they are regenerating the veld after decades of agricultural use. The land is being re-wilded, invasive species are being removed, and native species are being restored. Initiatives such as ponding help rehabilitate areas that once lacked proper vegetation, supporting carbon sequestration and ecological recovery.

By choosing to hunt at Royal Karoo, you contribute to preserving a piece of Africa as nature intended, ensuring that future generations can enjoy its beauty and biodiversity.

  • HUNTING AREA:

The main hunting area is located in the mountains that form the interface between the valley bushveld and Karoo veld types, some of the most varied in South Africa - from open Karoo plains to densely wooded mountain valley with grass topped plateaus.  This privately owned area offers exciting 'walk and stalk' hunting that is 'fair chase' and is done on a sustainable basis.  This is a challenging and exciting experience.

  • CLIMATE/HEALTH

Our winter months in South Africa are June, July & August and both May & September can also be cold. Generally you can expect cold mornings with the occasional frost, warming towards midday with cold nights. The higher altitudes of our Eastern Cape hunting areas do get snow, so come prepared. The summer months can experience temperatures of up to 100°F at midday.

A few of our South African areas are Malaria areas. Please consult your Doctor if Malaria Prophylaxis is needed. Your Professional Hunter carries a first aid kit, and sophisticated medical services are available in nearby South African towns and cities.

Malaria: Royal Karoo Safaris hunting area and concessions are Malaria free.

Vaccinations: Tetanus-diphtheria vaccine is recommended, for all travellers who have not received a tetanus-diphtheria immunization within the last 10 years. Please seek advice from your medical practitioner.
