About the Makadi Team
Diethelm and Katja Metzger have been running Makadi Safaris since 1996, bringing together a lifetime of hunting experience and a passion for nature conservation. Diethelm, who grew up on the farm Otjisauona in central Namibia, has been hunting his entire life. He studied Agricultural Economics at the University of Pretoria and later earned a Master's degree from Texas A & M University, USA. Katja, who studied Nature Conservation at the Technikon of Pretoria, manages the household and prepares a variety of delicious venison dishes for guests.
The couple has three children, with the youngest, Nikolai, recently joining the family business. In May 2014, Nikolai and his wife Nicola Jayne joined Makadi Safaris, gradually taking over responsibilities from Diethelm and Katja. Nikolai was educated at Grootfontein Agricultural College in South Africa and completed his internship in Australia, where he met Nicola. The couple married in April 2014 and moved to Namibia, where they welcomed their daughter Sofie Jayne in Windhoek in January 2017.
Makadi Safaris continues to thrive under this new generation, offering a unique combination of hunting, family heritage, and deep-rooted conservation values.
