CAMP STAFF AND CAMP CHIEFS

  • WELCOME TO ELAND SAFARIS

Picture this: It's early morning in Africa, and you, have been tracking a Kudu bull for hours. You can sense you're getting closer, guided by fresh dung and broken twigs along the trail. The hunter freezes, hearing the faint noise of the bull picking fresh leaves from a Mopani tree, unaware of your presence. Slowly, you inch closer for a better shot, taking careful aim. Your finger squeezes the trigger, and the shot rings out in the morning sun.

That's the exhilaration of an African hunt, and that's exactly what they want you to experience at Eland Safaris.

Eland Safaris professional hunters are committed to helping you obtain your trophies in a sportsmanlike and ethical manner. They will expose you to the widest variety of game species, landscapes, and habitats in all of Africa. With their years of experience in the African bush, our dedicated professional hunters will guide you to your dream trophy. We have many references to prove our expertise and success in providing unforgettable hunting experiences.

Hunting season at Eland Safaris runs throughout the year, but we recommend the months of March to October. Each hunt is meticulously planned to suit your personal requirements, whether you're the hunter or a non-hunting observer.

A typical hunting day starts at the crack of dawn with a small breakfast. Then, you and your professional hunter will venture out to one of our well-managed concession areas or private ranches, where you'll spend the morning hunting. Depending on the hunting area and the game you're after, you may spend the entire day out, in which case we'll provide a lunch box and plenty of refreshments. If you don't stay out the whole day, we'll have a brunch around 11 am, followed by a quick siesta. The afternoon hunt begins as soon as you're ready.

They understand that each client has unique preferences and strive to cater to your individual needs. While they can make recommendations, the final decision on hunting methods rests with you. Our preferred method is to use one of our well-equipped hunting vehicles until we spot the trophy, we're after, and then make a stalk. With 36 species on their trophy list, it's essential that they know your priority animals, as not all species naturally occur in all hunting areas. Please note that traveling may be required for some species.  At Eland Safaris, they are dedicated to providing an unforgettable hunting experience that combines adventure, respect for the environment, and the thrill of the hunt. Join them for an extraordinary safari and create lasting memories in the African wilderness.

  • HUNTING AREA:

Eland Safaris offers the ULTIMATE hunting experience in the heart of Africa! Whether it's your first safari or a return trip, whether you're after the Big Five or plains game, we cater to all your hunting desires and ensure you create lasting memories.

    The Thrill of the Hunt

It’s early morning in Africa, and you've been tracking a Kudu bull for two hours. The signs are fresh: dung, broken twigs, and faint rustling. You freeze as you hear the bull picking at the fresh leaves of a Mopani tree. He hasn't seen you yet. Slowly, you inch closer. The sight of the magnificent bull takes your breath away. You steady your aim, squeeze the trigger, and the shot rings out in the still morning air.

This is the excitement of an African hunt, and at Eland Safaris, that’s exactly what we want you to experience!

    Your Professional Hunter

Our professional hunters will ensure that you obtain your trophies in a sportsmanlike and ethical manner, guiding you through Africa's vast landscapes. Each safari is tailored to your preferences, offering a diverse range of game species and habitats. We promise that your African safari will be unforgettable, one that you’ll treasure for a lifetime.

With selective trophy hunting across all our concessions, including our private ranches, Eland Safaris is proud to offer some of the finest rifle hunting experiences in South Africa. Our dedicated team of hunters, with years of African bush experience, will guide you toward your dream trophy.

    Hunting Season & Daily Experience

Though we offer hunting safaris year-round, the recommended season is from March to October. Every hunt is tailored to suit your specific requirements, ensuring that your needs, and those of any non-hunting companions, are fully met.

A typical hunting day begins at dawn with a light breakfast (coffee, cereal, toast, or whatever you prefer). Then, you and your professional hunter will head out to one of our well-managed concession areas or private ranches. Depending on your quarry, you might spend the entire day hunting, in which case, a packed lunch and refreshments will be provided. Otherwise, brunch is served at 11 a.m., followed by a siesta before the afternoon hunt.

    Customizing Your Safari

We understand that every hunter is different. While we offer recommendations, the final decision on how the hunt is conducted is always yours. Our preferred method is to use one of our equipped hunting vehicles until we spot the desired trophy, then begin the stalk.

With 36 species on our trophy list, not all game naturally occurs in every area, so it’s important to prioritize your desired species. Please note that traveling between locations may be required for certain game.

    Rifle Hunting Recommendations

    • For Plains Game, we recommend a minimum of a .30 calibre rifle with a 3-9 variable scope and high-quality soft nose cartridges (such as Swift A-frame, minimum 180gr).

    • For Dangerous Game (Buffalo, Elephant, Rhino, Hippo), a .375 calibre or higher is preferred, with a compact scope and swing-off mounts.

    • For Cape Buffalo, we suggest a good supply of high-quality soft nose cartridges, along with solids.

    • For Elephant, Rhino, and Hippo, use solid cartridges only.

Most importantly, use a rifle you are comfortable with. If you prefer not to travel with your own firearm, we offer a selection of well-maintained rental rifles to eliminate the hassle of transporting a firearm by plane.

Eland Safaris is ready to provide the African adventure of a lifetime. Are you ready to join us?

At Eland Safaris, we cater to bow hunters of all styles, whether you prefer traditional bows, compound bows, or crossbows. Our variety of strategically placed blinds provides the perfect opportunity for you to patiently wait and ambush trophy animals in their natural habitat.

    The Eland Safaris Experience

Imagine sitting quietly in a blind since dawn, watching the morning activity unfold around you. Eland bulls and cows pass by, but the shot isn’t right. Suddenly, everything stills, and you hear the rustling of something big. It’s the moment every hunter dreams of—an enormous Eland bull slowly reveals itself. Heart racing, you patiently wait as the bull inches forward. You draw your bow, aim carefully, and release the arrow. This is the thrill of an African bow hunting safari at Eland Safaris.

We strive to offer the best possible experience, ensuring your hunt is not only successful but also ethical and sportsmanlike. Our professional hunters will guide you across diverse landscapes and introduce you to the rich variety of game species South Africa has to offer. We guarantee that your South African bow hunting safari will be an unforgettable experience.

    Bow Requirements

    • Recurve: 60 lbs minimum for plains game, 95 lbs minimum for the Big Five.

    • Compound: 60 lbs minimum for plains game, 80 lbs minimum for dangerous game.

    Arrow Recommendations

    • Plains Game: 400 grains minimum.

    • Buffalo: 850 grains minimum with a two-blade fixed broadhead.

We prefer fixed-blade broadheads for accuracy and reliability, and do not recommend lightweight arrows, especially for dangerous game. Brands like Muzzy, Montec G5, and Thunderheads are excellent options. For dangerous game, a heavier arrow with a total weight of at least 850 grains is essential.

At Eland Safaris, we make sure that every shot counts, and every moment adds to the excitement of your African adventure.
